The Paula Abdul replacement rumors just won't go away. First we had the Courtney Love prank. And now, according to the latest gossip, former Go-Go's lead singer, Belinda Carlisle, was approached a couple of years ago to replace the bubbly, babbling celebrity judge.When asked if she wanted to be a judge on the show, Carlisle answered, "I really don't know. To be perfectly honest, it's just not my thing. I'd rather listen to music that comes from a more organic place. But you know, I just ... don't know if I would or not."
I'm not sure what it is about Paula that makes her so irreplaceable. But I honestly have to say that I'd miss the wackiness that is Paula if she were gone. You can't deny that the three celebrity judges have a chemistry that works. They've perfected their three-man act. And this becomes even more apparent when guest judges are thrown into the mix, upsetting the balance of the original trinity.
As long as Paula stays conscious, I think her job will remain secure. The producers obviously adore her and they're willing to go the extra mile and protect their girl, by selectively editing her footage so that she doesn't appear to be too ditzy or drunk or whatever.

I love Paula and I think the show would be boring without her. She adds fun to the show.The three of them share a wonderful chemistry that would be destroyed if any one of them were gone.

Replace Paula!!! NO! Never! The show just wouldn't be the same without her. None of the three judges should be replaced. They are as much a part of the show as the contestants and, sometimes THEY ARE THE SHOW. If it's not broke...don't fix it!

I think there's a certain trust that people get from
Paula. Whether the contestant wins or loses, they trust what comes from her. They always seem to look
to Paula for validation.

I'm saddened that so many people believe Paula's been drinking. People are more ready to believe a nasty rumor than the truth; that she has had medical issues and like many of us, takes medicine to deal with them. Wake up, America, and look in your medicine cabinets. Sheesh.

I agree with the others, Paula adds something to Idol that would surely be missed. She balances out the other two. I find Randy a bit boring, and frankly, Simon goes too far sometimes.

Two things would cause me to stop watching AI. One would be if Paula is removed. The other is if Michael Jackson appears as a guest judge. You think Paula is wierd? Everything about Jackson is wierd and repugnant.

I have to wonder how much of Paula's behavior seems off-kilter because they edit the show to make it look worse than it actually is. They get a LOT of mileage from it.
As for Belinda Carlisle, there is no way she would be half as good as Paula.

But I like Paula and think a there is a great deal of exaggeration in how people talk about her...almost like it's a trendy thing to do..
She does seem more down to earth than many...,it's like she realizes that she is really no better than anyone else. I'll take any wackiness with that attitude. It just wouldn't be the same without her.

I think Paula is fun on the show. If they change a judge, it would be the end of the show. The guest judges are neat to see her and there, but the chemistry lies with the oringinal three.

Paula is so bubbly and adds so much to this show as well as the other two. Leave her alone and let her be on the show and stop tormenting her about drinking or drugs. We have no proof and she adds so much to the show, plus she is a very talented young lady.
